Purpose: This competition has a new format this year. In order for our children to be able to qualify to go to the Dorset County Championships in the new year they need to be able to achieve qualifying times at a licensed swim meet rather than at time trials or internal galas. Weymouth Swimming Club’s Sophie Moore has raised over £3000 for ‘Against Breast Cancer’, a charity dedicated to helping those suffering with the disease. The charity aims to support research aiming to improve detection rates and increase survival.She choose to undertake this amazing challenge after someone very close to her was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Sophie Moore will be swimming 22 miles in Weymouth Swimming Pool, starting on Thursday 12 Dec. during the club training session, aiming to complete by the end of the weekend. Young swimmers from Weymouth Swimming Club trained hard throughout the year to qualify for the Dorset Development meeting. The event is an important highlight in the Swimming club calendar, giving swimmers the opportunity to compete against swimmers from all over the county. Weymouth Swimming Club visited Hutton Moor, Weston-Super-Mare for the second round of the Southern Junior League. This prestigious event comprises three galas, taking place in April, May and June. Teams with swimmers aged 9-12, from across Southern England battle for a place in the National final.
